1. ASE opens second plant in US to expand testing services
ASE Technology Holding Co launched its second testing facility in San Jose, California, to expand chip testing capabilities for emerging semiconductor applications like AI and HPC.The advanced testing facility will be operated by ISE Labs Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of ASE.

2. PSMC’s second quarter revenue slightly increased and is expected to continue rising for third quarter
Wafer foundry PSMC’s revenue for the second quarter was NT$11.123 billion, a quarterly increase of 3% and a slight increase of 1% compared to the same period last year. Benefiting from increased demand in downstream markets such as mobile phones, laptops, automotive, and networking, revenue in the third quarter is expected to continue to rise gradually.

3. Orders surged due to AI booming;ASML expects industry upturn in 2025
Semiconductor equipment manufacturer ASML reported second-quarter net sales of €6.24 billion ($6.8 billion) and a net profit of €1.58 billion, exceeding expectations. Third-quarter net sales are expected to range between €6.7 billion and €7.3 billion. The AI chip boom has driven a sharp increase in ASML orders, with second-quarter net orders totaling €5.6 billion, a year-on-year growth of over 24%. The company expects the industry recovery to continue into the second half of the year and anticipates cyclical upturn in 2025.

4. MELEXIS opens its largest wafer testing site worldwide in Malaysia
MELEXIS opens its largest wafer testing site worldwide in Malaysia. This marks a strategic expansion to fulfill the growing global demand for semiconductors, which is expected to double in the next decade. Placing the facility in Kuching - Sarawak - Malaysia, next to X-FAB's wafer foundry, one of Melexis' key suppliers, is a strategic move to streamline logistics and help reducing the company’s ecological footprint.

5. TSMC has raised the lower limit of its capital expenditures
TSMC expects third-quarter 2024 revenue to be between $22.4 billion and $23.2 billion, representing a 9% quarter-over-quarter increase and a 32% year-over-year increase. In terms of capacity, strong AI demand continues to prevent supply and demand balance. It is estimated that capacity will remain tight through 2025. In addition, the lower limit of capital expenditures has been raised from the original $28 billion to $30 billion, while the upper limit remains at $32 billion."
